Teacher is my Cyber Bestie...

So off of what my buddy Steve mentioned as far as professionalism and student relationships...how do we feel about the idea of teachers and other school staff forming technological "friendships" with students? Is this inappropriate? The obvious answer would be"...uhhh, YES!" But with such a large amount of our interaction being done online, can we avoid it? Also, isn't it possible that student can find their teachers and still keep track of their outside lives even if the aren't "friends" or followers"...and what about the possibility of "student friendly" or "professional accounts"? I know that with experience as an actor, we have professional social media pages as well as person...could that work with school and where does a school leader fall in making sure lines are not blurred in their school environment? As long as no illegal activity is present, can a leader really have an opinion on student/faculty online relationships? Interesting and touchy area....

Snooping on my IG!! :-\

All types of interesting points of view and stories on teachers and social media...I personally think it's a great way to find out who you are hiring or or who is already working in your school. What do you think? Is it sneaky? Is it an unfair way to judge someone...? While you think about that, here is an interesting bit on some questionable teacher activity on social media...

Let's talk about it

With all the social media and cool new technological tools right at our finger tips, it's easy to blur the lines between what is right and what it wrong...what is ok to post or use and what is not okay to use. Who owns that picture that you just turned into a meme? Is that your catchy phrase that you just used to put a nice bow on that sweet tweet? #thesearentreallymythoughts....lets talk about it.
